The Baroque

It was never trying to be round.

A large baroque pearl held in hand-bent gold-plated wire that follows whatever shape the pearl happens to be. The wire is formed around each pearl individually, so the setting is different on every single ring.

A round pearl is a manufactured expectation. Left alone, a shell builds its layers unevenly around whatever irritant it couldn't expel, and what comes out is lopsided, lustrous and unrepeatable. The round ones are the ones that were controlled.

This is the ring for the stage of rebuilding, and it makes the point better than any sentence could: the irregularity is not damage. It is the record of how the thing was made.

Every pearl is different, so yours will not match the photograph. That is the piece working as intended.

Care

Last on, first off, and more carefully than the rest of the range. Pearl is the one material here that was alive: keep it away from soap, perfume and water, and wipe it with a soft dry cloth. It will outlast you if you do.
