The Fan

Folded is not the same as small.

A large ribbed fan hanging from a small square stud set with mixed-color stones. The ribbing is struck rather than cast, so each fan carries slightly different lines and the light runs down them as the head turns.

A fan is a flat thing that has been folded to be carried. Nothing is added when it opens — the whole surface was always there, pleated down small enough to fit in a hand.

That is the argument of this collection in one object. She did not acquire anything to get here. She stopped keeping it folded.

Large and very light. They move constantly, which is most of the pleasure of wearing them.
